Customising GeoNode

GeoNode allows you to personalise its interface to match your organisation’s branding and preferences. Customising your GeoNode instance improves usability and creates a more consistent experience for your users.

You’ll need administrator access to customise your GeoNode instance.

Step 1: Update Icon, Favicon & Site Name

1. Click the Avatar Icon in the top navigation bar and select Admin.

2. Under Kartoza geonode, click Site preferences.

3. In the Site Name field, enter your new site name.

4. Under Icons, upload images for the Icon and Favicon.

5. Click Save

6. In the top-right corner, click View Site to view your changes.

Save the site name, icon, and favicon at the same time to ensure they update correctly.

Step 2: Update Site Title (Browser Tab)

1. Click the Avatar Icon and select Admin.

2. Under Sites, click Sites.

3. From the list, select your GeoNode instance.

4. In the Display Name field, enter your new site title.

5. Click Save

6. In the top-right corner, click View Site to view your changes.

Step 3: Update Site Colors

1. Click the Avatar Icon and select Admin.

2. Under Kartoza geonode, click Site preferences.

3. In the Colors section, configure:

   
   

   Setting	Description
   Text Color	Changes the main text colour across the site.
   Main Color	Typically used for button backgrounds and primary highlights.
   Secondary Color	Often used for hover effects or secondary highlights.

   
   

4. In the Navbar section, configure:

   
   

   Setting	Description
   Sub Navbar Color	Text color for the sub navbar.
   Sub Navbar Background Color	Background color for the sub navbar.

5. Click Save.

6. In the top-right corner, click View Site to view your changes.

Step 4: Update Site Banner

1. Click the Avatar Icon and select Admin.

2. Under GeoNode Themes Library, click Themes.

3. Click Add GeoNode Theme Customization.

4. Fill in the following fields:

   
   

   Setting	Description
   Name	e.g. “My Theme.”
   Is Enabled	Ensure the box is checked.
   Welcome Theme	Select “Jumbotron Background.”
   Jumbotron Background	Upload your chosen image.
   Jumbotron Title	Enter the banner title.
   Jumbotron Content	Enter the banner description or message.

5. Click Save.

6. In the top-right corner, click View Site to view your changes.
