LandInfo Technologies provides the domain expertise in municipal asset management, while Kartoza delivers the software engineering, geospatial development, and cloud infrastructure that powers the platform.

What MyCivitas Does

MyCivitas is a web-based asset management system that gives municipalities a clear picture of what they own, what condition it is in, and what it will cost to maintain over time. The platform covers the full asset lifecycle:

Asset Inventory

MyCivitas provides a structured, map-based inventory of all municipal infrastructure. Every asset — whether a road segment, water pipe, stormwater drain, or community building — is recorded with its location, attributes, condition, and maintenance history. The GIS integration means assets are not just entries in a database but visible, queryable features on a map.

Condition Assessment

The platform supports systematic condition assessments using standardised rating scales. Field workers use mobile devices to inspect assets and record their current condition, supported by photo documentation and structured assessment forms. Condition data feeds directly into the platform’s deterioration models and planning tools.

Lifecycle Cost Modelling

MyCivitas includes financial modelling tools that project the long-term costs of maintaining, rehabilitating, and replacing infrastructure assets. Municipalities can model different investment scenarios, understand the consequences of deferred maintenance, and build evidence-based capital budgets.

Risk and Priority Analysis

How Kartoza Supports the Partnership

Platform Development

Kartoza is the primary software development partner for MyCivitas. We build and maintain the web application, database architecture, API layer, and user interfaces. The platform is built on Django, PostGIS, and modern frontend technologies, with a strong emphasis on usability and performance.

Geospatial Engineering

Infrastructure assets are inherently spatial — they exist at specific locations and connect in networks. Kartoza brings deep expertise in geospatial data management, ensuring that MyCivitas handles spatial queries, map rendering, and network analysis efficiently. We integrate with QGIS for advanced spatial analysis and cartographic output.

Mobile and Field Solutions

We develop the mobile data collection tools that allow field workers to conduct asset inspections and condition assessments on-site. These integrate with Mergin Maps and QField for robust offline-capable field data capture that syncs back to the central MyCivitas database.
