User guide¶
This section is for people installing and running a GISNIX machine day to day — not developing GISNIX itself (see the developer guide for that).
- Quickstart — download the ISO, boot it, run the installer.
- Making a bootable USB stick — balenaEtcher,
dd, Rufus, whichever tool suits your platform. - Post-install configuration — display scaling, arranging the panel and dock, and putting the screenshot and GIF-recording commands on keys of their own.
- Keyboard remapping — the home-row modifiers,
navigation layer, and hold-Menu voice dictation
the
services-device-input-kanatabundle gives you (on by default), and what to do about a second board. - Building your fleet — living with one host, turning it into a real repo, and adding a second (or tenth) machine.
- Once installed,
~/nixos-configon your machine is your own tiny flake — it pins GISNIX and holds only your host and user files. Change installed software by editinghosts/<name>/config.nix's bundle list, thengisnix update(see the quickstart for the full loop, and its note on the interactivegisnix configuremenu).
